  • contacted by makers of 'Science Shack' program regarding ornithopters - agreed to prepare outline of human-powered ornithopter (see outcome at www.transitionrig.com/flap )

February 2003

  • completed two-handed rig for canoe/kayak

March 2003

  • obtained MI380 kayak, added rig, rudder, outriggers and leeboard
  • completed model of transition skimmer - a cross between a sailboard and a skiff:

  • first trials of sailing kayak on Teign estuary:

  • demonstrated sailing kayak to instructors at Grenville House, Brixham

  • fitted single-handed rig to kayak

May 2003

  • completed prototype mast for 6 sq m rigs (windsurfing)

  • further successful testing of sailing kayak in winds gusting to Force 5

July 2003

  • computer animation of sail modules for larger vessels completed by Ben McNeilage (KCIRA)
