The wing beat control cylinder has two main roles: it limits the maximum amplitude of the wing beat, and it contains a spring that is compressed as the wings rise during the upstroke. The energy stored in the spring is then added to the downstroke effort provided by the pilot	The wing incidence bar is biased towards the positive incidence position by a tensioned spring attached to its front end
