There are two main variants of the kayak rig:
-
the simpler one is
stowed as a bundle, then extended when required
and dropped into a vertical tube fitted to the
kayak. This is ideal if you wish to put up a
sail only occasionally in between paddling
sessions (for details click
here...)
-
the more complex one
has a rotating base that remains in place
on the kayak, and the rig is raised and lowered
as required. This is suitable if you want to
spend most of your time sailing (for details

For the best sailing experience, it is best to fit a
rudder and centreboard, together with a pair of
outrigger floats for stability.
